So here's what I know:
- Her surgery is tentatively scheduled for the end of August, so if funds are short and you want to wait until the first week in September, that is totally cool.
- She loves computer games. Her Steam wishlist is here. I don't quite know how someone can buy a game for another on Steam, but I'm told it's possible.
- She has an extensive Amazon Wishlist here. Note: She really needs that parasol in the top listing, as her meds react badly with sunlight and she burns easily.
- If you don't want to go either of those routes, that's fine; Squeaky has said she's thrilled that people are willing to get her stuff to cheer her up, and just knowing that people are doing this for her cheers her up. So basically, if you can think of something fun or funny to do for her, go for it.
Here's what I don't know:
- Since she's likely to be getting stuff from Amazon and Steam separately, I'm not sure if folks should just send their contribution piecemeal or if we should do like we did for Operation: Tamalanche and put it all in one big box for hand-delivery.
- If we are going the hand-delivery route, I need someone who lives close to her (Memphis, TN) who is willing to act as both central clearinghouse for the goodies and deliveryperson for the goodies when they're all in.
- If you're willing to do this job, please let me know.
- EDIT: This position has been filled. If you have a physical product you wish to send her, please shoot me an email and I'll give you the mailing address for Lymeparty HQ.
OK, not quite what I was going for, but I don't have a lot to work with here... |
I see there is a guitar strap listed. I make chainmaille guitar straps. I have an extra pair of custom made leather black ends. I might not be able to complete it for the total package but I can start on it and you can give her an IOU with a picture of one of the others I'm making. Please ask her if she would want it, though, and what length she prefers. They are all 2" wide, though, that can't be altered.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely offer, Jill! I know that Squeaky reads these comments so she'll tell you herself.
ReplyDeleteOh, NOW I understand "LymeParty".
ReplyDeleteBuying a game for someone else on steam is easy. You simply Select Buy as a Gift (instead of "Buy for yourself") and then gift it to someone through your inventory.
ReplyDeleteSo....chainmaille? As in, "SCA-grade metal rings joined together as armor" chainmaille? Um...I will NOT say no to that.
ReplyDeleteI don't know length, yet. I will have to get back to you on that, but I can actually likely find out, tonight.
Thank you!
You just have to know the person's email address or be friends with them on Steam. If anyone wants to send me a gift without friending me, they can contact me through my blog's email and I'll give them my Steam email information.
ReplyDeleteYes, as in steel. :-D I'm going to be working on three others with white ends and length being the only difference and I'll send you.pics when I have the first complete. It will be Japanese 12:2 if that means anything to you.
ReplyDeleteAnd aren't you sorry you Googled it? I waaaarned youuuuuu....
ReplyDeleteI think you just made Squeaky very, very happy. :D
ReplyDeleteHey Squeak, you got a PS3?
ReplyDeleteNope. I have an X-Box 360 (which I rarely use, in all honesty), and my PC. I do have a PS2, a Nintendo, and Super Nintendo, though...lol.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the recording and Tam's song. I was sitting there thinking how I talk to myself like you were talking all the time and then you NO SHIT said "I talk to myself like this all the time." Are we twins? Wait, no, scratch that-- I always say that at least I'm not arguing with myself, and you went on to say you often argue with yourself, so. Well. It made me giggle. I think it's great what you and Jennifer have drummed up for our Squeakerling, and though I'm in impoverished student mode, I'm glad I could make some tiny contribution. Way to go, and thanks for the fun recording!
ReplyDeleteSo cool!
ReplyDeleteAlright, I'll send you a game or two when I can. I found BSI to be pretty shooty, but it's still a GOTY contender. I ask because in my opinion, The Last of Us is a great game, and if you have trouble with shooters, it might be a better fit.
ReplyDeleteA LOT of people loved "The Last of Us," and I felt all left out because I didn't have a PS3, but I don't have the money for games, anyway, so whatevs...heh. I've learned to live without a lot, or to wait for Humble Bundles.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
