There are a few doctors and lawyers, but overall the membership is much more diverse and disfunctional. Most Mensans are not super achievers and have a history of being a little socially awkward, so it tends to be a very tolerant group. I'm a much older computer geek and my life is far from successful.

As far as paying to join, it's not any different than paying to join a rifle club.

With your sense of humor and skill with words you would be quite welcome. The fact that you're a gunny would interest a lot of people and horrify a few liberals (I told you it's a very tolerant group). In fact, organizing range days would be a cool thing you could contribute.

Really, don't be afraid of the people. Overall they are so weird that you would fit fight in.Mattnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6649591714373684167.post-32007838158666911202013-03-15T23:38:13.527-04:002013-03-15T23:38:13.527-04:00I don't think I'd be a good fit. The "...I don't think I'd be a good fit. The "Prove you are good enough for us by paying to join!" aspect is a turn-off for the same reason I didn't go Greek back in college -- needing to buy access to friends and associates strikes me as a character flaw.

Also, the fact that I have accomplished fuck-all with my life would make me very uncomfortable when talking to doctors and lawyers and the other sorts of successful people.

So in essence, I would be paying to feel awkward. Shit, I can do that for free at any bar...Erin Palettehttp://lurkingrhythmically.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6649591714373684167.post-86776754194489297642013-03-15T23:11:51.624-04:002013-03-15T23:11:51.624-04:00Gah, youngsters these days. You still have a lot of time ahead of you and the natural advantage of not only being intelligent and talented, but female as well. That opens up a lot of possibilities. Have you thought of joining Mensa?Mattnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6649591714373684167.post-31029526216931713492013-03-15T20:19:16.033-04:002013-03-15T20:19:16.033-04:00What an honor for me!What an honor for me!AGirlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6649591714373684167.post-71602112565246076842013-03-15T19:15:23.644-04:002013-03-15T19:15:23.644-04:00Squee!Squee!Ted Nnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6649591714373684167.post-75602240464308735082013-03-15T17:23:51.721-04:002013-03-15T17:23:51.721-04:00Awe shucks.
