A polite request to the political-minded everywhere

Can we please, Please, PLEASE stop talking about Bush now?

Love him or hate him, the man has left office. This President is no more. He has ceased to be a politician. He is an Ex-President.

Let us now, in the spirit of that notable .org, move the fuck on and begin the partisan praising of and/or bitching about Obama.

Let us likewise engage in the nonpartisan skewering of authority figures that our nation is so good at.

Can we do that? Please? For me?

YES WE CAN.*

* It's my prediction that use of "Yes we can" as a punchline is going to be 2009's "The cake is a lie." I'm not a hypocrite, I'm an early adopter.

  1. meh. "This [insert medium here] is not available in your country" is the new scourge.

Go nationalism, welcome to the web. :(

  2. I'm just amazed that the cry of "dissent is the highest form of patriotism" that we've heard for the last several years has become, literally overnight, "we all have to come together."

Nah, I'm just kidding. I'm not amazed.

  4. Ironic cries of "Hope and Change!" are also getting a lot of play in my neck of the woods. And I've heard more than one person refer to Obama as "Our Dear Leader", which is going a bit too far, in my opinion. We should at least wait until Rush Limbaugh and Markos Moulitsas are sharing a cell in Guantanimo before we really start equating the Big O with A-class dictators. ;)

  5. I'm with Troy - I wish I could be amazed that the same people who called the sitting President a "murderer" for the last few years and made urinals in the shape of the same said President now demand that everyone get behind their guy. Sorry folks, we don't live in that America any more - YOU made sure of that. Your sitting President does not get my automatic respect anymore.

And for every person that says "but Bush actually *was* a murderer," I want to hunt them down and during the course of casual conversation call the new sitting President a ni**er. And when they get angry, I'll simply remind them that no matter how repugnant the word, all that matters is how *accurate* it is.
