  1. Yeah.

A stunning sub-species is the person who forgets you know them in meat-space and they troll you anyways. Engaging in the safety of being out of range is what I call it.

  4. It's kind of a no-win situation, too. You can't even inform them that their actions are inappropriate, because that's what they want you to do.

This is also why Youtube won't stop asking to use your real name.

  6. I am glad they wrapped up with the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory - would have been a hell of an omission if they did not.

Over five years ago now, I made the serious tactical error of engaging a particularly confrontational, abusive, and borderline violent anti-rights troll. I will admit to being trolled for somewhere around a year, thinking I could actually accomplish something by shooting down the troll's rhetoric, hate, bigotry, misrepresentations, lies, and so forth.

Suffice to say, I was an idiot.

Finally, three years after I stopped engaging him, the troll has all but stopped cyberstalking myself and my family, defaming me on the internet, and his various other destructive behaviors. Unfortunately, that does absolutely nothing for all of the things he has already posted to the tubes.

Indeed, the only way to beat troll is to not play his game, but the only way to truly win is to never start.
