  1. The Atlantic article writer's last sentence is still all about someone else stepping up:
    "I’m not ready to say I want my young kids to fight if, God forbid, they encounter a mass shooter. But I’m willing to admit that maybe I want someone present to fight for them."
    Until we are teaching that no one is coming to save you, you are your own first responder, we're always going to have this problem.
